A client requested a quick and simple site for his wife, a noteworthy interior designer. I knew right away that imagery is king for a business like hers. Since there wasn't a lot of literature to work from, I suggested putting the photos front and center on a single-page site.
Using an ultra-modern template as a starting point, I worked in colors from the logo, many fantastic photos, and the crucial contact information. Some carefully selected messaging puts a personal polish on the presentation.

A rooted Pixel should be regularly updated to keep it secure (and stifle the annoying update nag notification). Once you've unlocked the bootloader, over-the-air (OTA) updates can't be installed by the operating system due to failing security checks. It needs to be done manually. This can happen without erasing the phone, but you'll need to re-root and possibly apply SuperSU and SuHide again. You should always back up your files anyway in case of problems.
This guide is based on a very helpful XDA article, but attempts to fill in procedural holes and improve clarity for my own benefit. It will be improved as needed. I intend to own and operate my (awesome, but very expensive) Pixel for at least 3 years. The root procedure itself is outside the scope of this article.

Some years back I put up a site for Golden Nursery, a local family farm northeast of Rice, Minnesota. My own family has been visiting annually since the mid 90's to select our Christmas trees. I proposed to my wife there, in fact.
I wanted to convey the serenity and sense of adventure I feel when we're at Golden, so I went with a full-screen photo background. The site is one page, with content arranged in simple, clean sections. It's fully responsive and works very well on mobile.

Phil Little is one of my oldest clients, and we've done a lot of business together. His site needed to have its Joomla software upgraded, so that seemed like a good time to also update the theme to something more mobile-friendly.
It's a catalog-type site, but not really. Phil has some very creative ideas, so we use convential articles to lay out the content, and then we use RocketTheme's great RokSprocket extension to create calalog-like views, such as what is seen on the home page.

Several years after building the original Anna Marie's site we found it in need of simplification and modernization. Ultimately we migrated from Drupal to Joomla for an easier administration experience for the non-technical Anna Marie's staff. A clean, full-width template was built to effectively convey the primary messaging for the organization.
Research into a "safe exit" feature led to a quickly accessible bottom bar that's useful in crisis situations.

I've been helping my friend and client Tim Zemanovic for quite a few years now on several of his ventures. Today we released a brand new site for his aircraft demolition and recycling firm. We built on Joomla 3 with data migrated from the old site--one that dates back to the Joomla 1.5 era. It's a "responsive" site, meaning it flows and changes to fit and work well on a wide range of screen sizes.
The new site features an ultra-modern "flat" design in a full-width, edge-to-edge layout. It's ideal for both desktop and mobile users. Large graphics in the home page feature make for an impressive first look. Also featured on the home page are Tim's latest project news articles and a responsive video profile.
This site has been one of the most exciting that I've done. It really came together into something great.
