If it’s one part on old ETs that is consistently in bad shape, it’s the aluminum side panels. They are inherently weak and most show bangs and dents. Mine are fiberglass and can be repaired if need be. These at least you can repair if need be. Dented thin aluminum is virtually impossible to straighten perfectly.

Cure ET Overheating Problems

When warm days come along, your ET may over heat and run sluggishly. The simple fixes can be applied in stages:

Cut 2” or so off the engine vent shroud. Right now it’s right under the hood and can’t expel warm air fast enough. By trimming the shroud, you will free up engine air circulation. If that doesn’t work...
Create a duct that directs cool air from the huge vent cavity in my hood directly into the fan instead of by the fan. That should fix your problem.
